Quantum dots
Genefinity develops and manufactures high efficiency, high quality colloidal nanocrystals, also known as quantum dots (QDs). In particular, the company is dedicated to providing II-VI semiconductor nanocrystals, that have the unique characteristics of size dependent optical/electronic properties: the QDs absorption/emission peaks span the UV to NIR spectral window, with the size ranging from around 2 to 8 nm. The synthesis process is carried out by means of hot injection methods, and green chemistry approaches are adopted. The resultant nanocrystals demonstrate excellent size distribution, high quantum yield, elevated stability and durability.
QDs type: Genefinity manufactures different types of II-VI semiconductor nanocrystals - CdSe, CdTe, CdS, ZnSe, ZnTe and ZnS. It is possible to combine these materials in a core-shell structure that presents the same absorption and emission characteristics of the core, but higher quantum yields, greater stability and increase control over the surface chemistry. For the standard emission in the visible spectrum, the couple CdSe/ZnS is proposed.
